Description

[Future Note: This is quite old, so all information about this is likely no longer used in any of my projects.]

Full view immediately, please! Looks a lot better.

It took me a period of several weeks to complete, with procrastination delays. But overall, I consider it one of my best pieces of work and my best piece of pony art. This is my first time creating a show-accurate background, as well as a sensical background for a picture in general. It took a good deal of hours. Especially those damn clouds. Did them entirely by hand and they took the longest.

But I am quite proud of it. I think it looks quite beautiful. It's at dawn, my favorite time of day. Arylett DAWNSborough, of course.

Lots of usage of circle tool too. I could never get it that perfect by hand in such a large size. Looks nice though. So do the gradients.

Basically: This is a picture of my ponysona and some of my friends, choosing the balance of species carefully to create a Mane Six. I will go over each OC.

Artsy Dreamscapes (me) - This is my ponysona. The tan unicorn in the center. I suppose I'm the Twilight Sparkle. I really like this pose. It makes her look adorable, and tiny. Apparently, everyone thinks I'm that, so... it makes sense. Didn't have much trouble here, I've drawn Artsy billions of times. Though one thing to note: I made up the pose entirely myself with little reference. Came out nicely for that. Cutie mark looks awesome. Thank the glorious Nico for vectoring it. (Though I drew the original that he vectored over.)

Jack Stache - My boyfriend's ponysona designed by me. Light blue unicorn next to Artsy. He took a lot of damn time to finish, because of his unusual design. I essentially made him his own pony model. I changed up some aspects of his regular design to reflect his growth in real life. Like his mane, and more beards. Another completely made up pose. Cutie mark looks awesome. Thank the glorious Nico for vectoring it. (Though I drew the original that he vectored over.)

Nicolas Quill - This is Nico's ponysona! The first time he's been drawn in a semi-show accurate style. The male earth light brown pony. I made some modifications to his design. Since there were no clear references of his colors (all of the drawings had shading, and that screwed up what I was trying to do), I had to do some inventing. I also gave him a pair of goggles in reference to his role in my Final Fantasy story, and I changed his quill from blue to purple to reflect his color. Purple's his color, and I think it looks a lot better like that. Interesting to note that he and Artsy look very similar in color scheme and mane styles. I quite like this, as it makes for a good reference to us being brother and sister.

Klopp Thunderhead- Another fellow mod on MLP Forums besides me and Nico. Mod-heavy picture. He's the pegasus with the hat. Anyways, he was fun. I really liked his color scheme. Though like Nico, there were no prior pictures of him in a show-accurate style, so there was some inventing. And I kind of made up his cutie mark myself from a description due to Klopp having changed it. The infamous fedora gave me some trouble to make sense of, but it was fun.

Violet Fox - Ah, Zorielle's pony. Purple pegasus with glasses. I've seen her dozens of times, but I have never drawn her! It was time to remedy that. Trivia: This was the first pony I colored digitally. I think she looks quite nice, but I had some trouble on the mane as several pictures I looked at had a somewhat inconsistent mane style. My favorite part is probably the cutie mark. I really like how I managed to get it so pseudo-vector like that. Oh and uh... her face? Yeah, Zorielle is rather... mischievous at times, we will say. I think it suits her. I love that expression.

Flareth - One of Zorielle's friends. Green earth pony. She designed her pony, and I was having a lot of trouble finding a female earth pony to make the gender ratio and species ratio equal. She told me that she imagined this pony as either a unicorn or an earth pony. So in some pictures, she's drawn as a unicorn. In this one though, she is an earth pony. I drew her in a Pinkie Pie pose because... she's like the Pinkie Pie. Also, cutie mark came out nicely.

This group was also chosen on their color schemes. I think they fit together excellently. Lots of blue eyes though, and green... Artsy's the only brown eyed one! Ironic that having such a mundane eye color makes her unique, isn't it? (And so does having a curly mane... and her accessories... wow. Never realized how much she stands out.)
