[2014] Who I Am

This is something I finished up a long time ago. But I wanted to post it now as the beginning of my Non-Pony postings. There are still some pony pictures I have to post inbetween, but I'll largely be unloading the non-pony sketchy backlogs and such onto you.

Here is Elly from Xenogears and myself as a Valstaen to the left. Valstaens are an original creatures designed by myself, part of my Aelita series. The Valstaen here is one of the main characters of the series as well.


The picture was intended to highlight who I was for a school project I could never do due to having to drop out of the class for silly butt reasons. But I still decided to finish it anyway. Good practice to solidify the anime style I am trying to develop.

That shading is really intense, yes. I like it, but it's also a bit too complex. I'm still working on a good balance. At least the background is cool, the colors are nice. Anatomy is a bit iffy, but it's definitely some of my best. 

The design of my Valstaen self is still under construction. This is just a rough draft. I know I'm keeping the shoes for sure though. Everything else? Up for change. I know one thing though - she is wearing a uniform of some sort.

Basically, the reason Elly is in this picture is because I heavily identified with her when I played Xenogears. I felt a strange connection to her. When I read out her text in my voice, it seemed fitting somehow. Her voice felt like my voice. It's difficult to explain. But I just loved how she appeared in the forest, stumbling and speaking some different language to Fei whilst hesitantly pointing a gun at his face. It really made a lasting impression on me. Then there is her physical appearance, which basically represents how I've always wanted to look my entire life. She is one of the most beautiful and attractive females to me of all time. And I feel like she is a part of me.
